I’ve eaten oatmeal most mornings since childhood. Sometimes I switch it up with homefries, sweet potato pancakes, waffles, or breakfast enchiladas, but usually good old-fashioned oats win. Oats are versatile: hot or cold, savory or sweet, they work any time of day. Overnight oats are a lifesaver, and they’re even easier when you start with a premade blend like this apple cinnamon mix. Scoop it into a jar with your favorite plant milk, stir, and refrigerate overnight. Prefer it hot? Cook the mix for a couple minutes in the microwave or on the stove for a warm, spiced breakfast. This recipe makes 16 servings—16 quick breakfasts in under five minutes each.

In warmer months I enjoy oats hot or cold and with different flavor profiles. I always add cinnamon, ground flax, and softened dried fruit for texture and nutrition. Making a large batch of this dried oatmeal mix saves time each morning—just scoop, microwave or soak, and top with fresh fruit or nuts.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Mix

The apple-and-cinnamon instant oatmeal packets were a childhood favorite, and this homemade mix captures that cozy flavor without the single-serve packaging. If you don’t have dried apples, swap in dried peaches, strawberries, or another fruit you prefer. Because this mix uses dried fruit, it’s easy to enjoy year-round without worrying about what’s in season.
